Frederiksværk-Arresø hiking trip with ESN DTU

Event Description

Hi everybody! Would you like to go on a hike in nature a bit further from the city than usual? Are you eager to discover more of Denmark than Copenhagen area?

Then you shouldn’t miss the opportunity of joining us in our hike Frederiksværk-Arresø (12 km), in North Zealand! This scenic trail begins in the town of Frederiksværk and follows the picturesque Arresø Canal. As we hike through the tranquil Sørup Vang Forest, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in its lush, wooded surroundings. The route also leads to an open field, offering stunning panoramic views of Lake Arresø—the largest lake in Denmark! Keep an eye out for ducks and other bird species that inhabit the lake, making this a perfect spot for nature lovers.

This is the schedule for Sunday, March 16th:
9:40 - Meeting at Lyngby St. From DTU, you can get there by foot/bike/bus (for this last option, you can check the schedule on Google Maps/Rejseplanen). Please be on time!
9:54-11:00 - In Lyngby St we take the S-Train to Favrholm St., and then in Favrholm, the Lokaltog to Frederiksværk. During our trip on Lokaltog, you’ll have the change to observe the characteristic landscapes of Northern Zealand and/or to talk to the other participants.
The one-way trip costs 41 DKK, so make sure to have enough money in your Rejsekort!
11:10-11:45 - Arrival to Frederiksværk and Icebreaker/warm-up games.
11:45-15:30 - 12 km hike along Arresø Canal, Sørup Vang, Sonnerup and back to Frederiksværk. Lunch break around 13:30 next to Arresø lake.
You can bring your own food or buy it in a supermarket in Frederiksværk before we start the hike.
15:30-16:45 - Chilling/exploring around Frederiksværk.
16:45-17:45 - Return trip to Lyngby St.
17:45 - End of the event.

Very important! Make sure you bring appropriate footwear and waterproof clothes.
